ABOUT ME

Bio
In 1989, Chai Ling led Chinese student efforts to protest their government in Tiananmen Square. On the heels of petitions for democratic reform two years earlier, she took the chance of speaking out knowing that she risked governmental persecution. In 1990, Chai Ling fled China, spending 10 months in hiding before ending up in Paris, France. After accepting a full scholarship to Princeton University, she relocated to the United States, where she lives and works today. Chai Ling began her advanced education while still in China. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Peking University, she attended Beijing Normal University, where she began work toward a Master’s degree in Child Psychology. Following her relocation to the United States, Chai Ling attended Princeton University, from which she received an honorary Master’s degree in Political Science. She entered the workforce as a consultant with the firm Bain & Company, where she remained for three years. In 1998, Chai Ling earned her Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Upon graduation from Harvard, Chai Ling founded Jenzabar, Inc. As a provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and a full range of software solutions developed exclusively for colleges and universities, Jenzabar helps institutions of higher education realize their visions, missions, and strategies. Through providing innovative technology solutions for managing student information and business administration, along with strategic consulting services, Jenzabar supports institutional success and student success on campuses across the United States and around the world. Chai Ling’s latest project, All Girls Allowed, is an offshoot of Jenzabar’s charitable wing The Jenzabar Foundation and focuses on righting the wrongs imposed by China’s one-child policy. Believing the policy to be a major violation of human rights, the organization strives not only to educate citizens worldwide about the injustice of it, but also to assist those directly affected by the law: Chinese families, mothers, and daughters. Through funds for aiding legal defense, child rearing, rescue, and education, All Girls Allowed hopes to restore dignity, value, and life to mothers and girls in China. Chai Ling currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. She became a Christian in 2009 and has since sought to spread God’s word through her many charitable endeavors.
