Saint Louis, MO (September 7, 2007) –MESSAGEbuzz, one of the nation's premier self-service mobile marketing firms, is now officially part of Missouri’s effort to improve the safety and security of students, educators and visitors of Missouri's many higher education facilities. Governor Matt Blunt has released the recommendations of his 29-member Campus Security Task Force and a website dedicated to improving security and emergency communication on campuses. MESSAGEbuzz is a part of the new official state website as a resource and vendor for those working to keep campuses safe. “Text and mobile communications are effective in getting out information to thousands of people in seconds, especially college students who may be spread across miles of campus or multiple locations, mobile devices are the best way to reach them," said MESSAGEbuzz CEO Steven Kelley. "Whether it is a public-safety issue, a weather advisory, or other threat, text is the fastest way to alert students and faculty. A message can be sent in less than a minute to thousands of subscribers often independent of their location. Kelley is familiar with linking students on multiple campuses to critical information. MESSAGEbuzz’s web-based system has been used to transmit information to students at the University of Southern California. The instant message system also links two campuses of Neosho Community College with an easy-to use web-based system that puts information in the hands of students. MESSAGEbuzz delivers alerts to students in their preferred method of communication; the mobile phone. While the Missouri Campus Security Task Force did not endorse any vendors or particular plans, MESSAGEbuzz services and experience was evaluated and included on the new official state website as a vendor.
