The Gulf Coast Amateur Basketball Association announced today that it will host a Mid-Season All-Star Game on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. The League, which formed less than 2 months ago, has already become a magnet for some of the areas most talented players. As of today, over 30 games have been played by nearly 60 area players.
The All-Star game will feature 18 of the League's best players voted on by both GCABA staff and players. "I'm excited to see this game," said Bill Jula, League Founder and Commissioner. "For the regular season, we've tried to make each team competitive by balancing out some of the better players across different squads. It will be interesting to watch all of these great players come together for one evening."
The game will be preceeded by a modified version of the NBA's 3 Point Shootout. Players will shoot less overall 3's, and only the top 4 players will advance, giving added pressure to each player to score well in the first round.
"It should be fun," said Jula. "At any level of athletics, it's always good to be recognized by your peers. It's a reflection of not only your playing ability, but also your attitude on and off the court."
The league also added that it hopes to stream the game live over the Internet.
