Doreen Boxer spent the past 20 years as a criminal defense attorney in multiple jurisdictions throughout Southern California. She has been educated by Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and Yeshiva University Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor. Doreen Boxer is a member of the Bar in New York, Massachusetts andCalifornia.
In 1995, Doreen Boxer was hired as a Deputy Public Defender by the Los Angeles County Public Defender. As part of her duties, she practiced criminal defense law with a primary focus on misdemeanor crimes. She represented low-income clients throughout every stage of the trial process, and in certain circumstances, she negotiated with prosecuting agencies. She went on to practice law as an Associate Defender for Orange County, where she concentrated on homicide litigation.
Doreen Boxer was appointed the County of San Bernardino Public Defender in 2006. Her duties included obtaining and managing a multi-million dollar budget, as well as supervising a staff of more than 250 employees in 17 separate locations. Additionally, she carried out numerous administrative duties including contract negotiations, business plans, and public relations.
In 2011, Ms. Boxer co-founded the Boxer McLaughlin, A Professional Corporation in Newport Beach, California. This boutique law office is centrally focused on criminal defense litigation, in both state and federal court. Aside from her duties as a lawyer, she is also responsible for the firm’s business management and community outreach efforts.
Ms. Boxer has lent her litigation expertise to local publications including those published by Courtroom Compendiums entitled Criminal Evidence Handbook and Criminal Trial Notebook: California. She is also a regular contributor to California Defender Magazine.
